Caribbean Airlines Ltd is adding 56 additional flights to Tobago for vacationers who are planning to visit the island this weekend for the Great Race.
“Great Race weekend will be off to a great start for vacationers planning to travel between Trinidad and Tobago as Caribbean Airlines will be drastically increasing the number of domestic
flights for the popular powerboat racing event that takes place this coming weekend in Tobago,” CAL said in a statement.
“As it will be adding 56 extra flights for the weekend, the national airline is doing its part to ensure that those wishing to travel to and from the sister isle have a better opportunity to arrange their travel to Tobago, avoiding the extra rush in domestic travel that is associated with Great Race weekend,” the airline said. In addition to the 20 domestic flights CAL operates daily, the airline will operate eight extra flights daily from today to Monday, except Sunday, when there will be 16 extra flights.
CAL said the extra flights mean that the number of seats is set to increase by 2,800 for the Great Race weekend alone. For the two-month vacation period, CAL said it will provide a total of 15,616 seats, an increase of 1,416 seats weekly. Laura Asbjornsen, head of corporate communications at CAL, said in the statement that it is important for customers to book and confirm their domestic travel to ensure their flight to Tobago is “hassle-free.”
CAL has also increased its frequency to North America. Twice weekly, it will be operating up to five flights a day to New York. On selected days, CAL said it will operate up to three flights daily to Toronto and South Florida.
